31 Days of Small Joys: Day 3 (May Series)

Welcome to Day 3 of the 31 Days of Small Joys series!

For the past two days, you’ve been noticing and reaching for joy. Today, we’re inviting you to pause with it. Today is about rest, reflection, and the kind of joy that comes from simply being.

Small joys today aren’t something to do—they’re something to receive. Let them come to you.

Today’s Small Joys Checklist

☐ Spend time with something that soothes you A favorite scent. A soft blanket. A gentle voice. Whatever calms your nervous system—lean into it fully.

☐ Write down three things that are easier today than they were a year ago Pause. Reflect. Notice how far you’ve come. That’s a small joy.

☐ Let someone help you with something Ask. Say yes. Receive. Feel the joy in being supported.

☐ Sit in silence for five minutes No phone. No agenda. Just quiet. Listen to what your heart wants to say.

☐ Watch someone else experience joy A child playing. A friend laughing. A pet running. Witness the pure delight in another being.

☐ Drink something slowly and intentionally Coffee. Tea. Water. Notice the warmth. The taste. The ritual. Be fully present.

☐ Read something that moves you A poem. A passage. A letter. Let words touch your heart.

☐ Take a photo of something beautiful you normally walk past Really see it. Frame it. Capture it. You’ve just practiced mindfulness.

☐ Do absolutely nothing for 15 minutes Not meditation. Not self-care. Just… resting. Existing. That’s enough.

☐ Think of someone who believes in you and sit with gratitude Don’t contact them yet. Just feel the warmth of being seen and supported.

☐ Move your body in a way that feels gentle Stretching. Swaying. A slow walk. Let joy live in your muscles.

☐ Notice the small details around you A flower opening. Light hitting water. A bird singing. The world is full of quiet magic.

☐ Do one thing that’s just for pleasure Not productive. Not required. Just because it brings you joy.

☐ Breathe deeply and notice how many good things exist right now Not someday. Right now. In this moment. That’s enough.

☐ Create space in your day for rest Clear something. Say no to something. Give yourself permission to pause.

☐ Feel grateful for your body Whatever it can do, whatever it is doing—it’s carrying you through this life. That’s remarkable.

The Practice for Today

Today’s invitation is simple: stop reaching and start receiving.

The world has given you two days of awakening and intention. Now it’s asking you to rest with what you’ve found. To let the joy settle. To trust that slowing down is not laziness—it’s wisdom.

Tonight’s Reflection

Ask yourself: “What did I receive today that I almost missed?”

Small joys aren’t always loud. Sometimes they’re the quiet hum of peace. The soft knowing that you’re exactly where you need to be.

Day 4 brings new invitations. But tonight, rest.
